Michael G. Mulqueen has been drawing and painting since he was young. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from Syracuse University where his primary focus was drawing and painting the human figure. He has worked and exhibited in a variety of media, including charcoal, watercolor, acrylics, and oils. His subject matter has evolved over the years, with realism the one common tie among many different themes including figurative work, portraiture, landscape, and more recently, wildlife. More recently, Mike has been interested in exploring new methods including monotype and has begun to produce some larger abstract paintings inspired by the colors and textures of the lowcountry.
